Moving On

Alrighty my dear dear readers...

I am moving onto a new blog.  A couple of reasons for this.  First of all, this blog was supposed to be about a journey through surrogacy.  This didn't end up working out, so it changes what I'm writing about.  Secondly, I've gathered a couple of readers who use what I write as ammunition against me and people I care about in real life.  Yes, I know this is the internet and that as free as I am to write whatever I like, they are free to do with it as they like.  But I don't want to see people I care about being hurt.

So as I build my new blog (and I'm fairly technologically challenged) I ask for your opinions on how to help my loyal readers follow me while restricting my new blog from those I feel cautious about including in my private innermost thoughts.  I'm moving to wordpress, and I'm pretty sure there is a way to protect my blog, but I don't know how to do that and I worry that it will make readers I want to keep hesitant to follow me.  Thoughts ladies?

  1. Hi Kira! I'm at wordpress and you could make your blog private, where only users you choose to approve can read it...

  2. I think that if you do make it private, and readers you want have to type in a password, it would probably discourage people from reading... I could be wrong, but I know I have only limited "blog time".. I think the key thing is if you don't want people in real life to know about your blog, don't tell anyone your new url. Don't post it on FB. Let your readers that you want to keep following know individually - if you put a link here, everyone will follow. Good luck!

  3. It really stinks that other people ruin your blogging fun, but I understand. I too, am technologically challenged so I don't know how to do this, but I'm sure there must be someone out there who does. Maybe send an email to Melissa at Stirrup Queens and ask her to pose the question. She's pretty good about that.

Thank you for your kind comments on my blog, as well. It's bittersweet thinking about the role my friend played in this and knowing she's not here to see the result.

  4. I would skip the password and just keep yourself anonymous. Once you start commenting on other blogs people will find you again.

  5. I'm also on wordpress and I have my blog on the middle setting (it's not private where I have to invite people but it's also not able to be found by searching for it). People can only find it by stumbling upon it or if I leave my link in a comment.... I think it's pretty safe... I love wordpress. I tried blogger first but it seemed much more confusing that wordpress.
